Hunting accessories that must be in your bag for the hunting day

Whether you are new to hunting or a seasoned hunter, it is obvious that your backpack must have all the essential things crucial to success in hunting. Why pack all the stuff which perhaps would never come to use? Well, because when you’re out in the woods and bush, all you have is a backpack. You rely on the items carried in the hunting pack, thus, it shouldn’t seem that heavy because you never know when you’d have to use them.

If you think that the bag is heavy for all those hiking hours, you better get on in the gyming shoes and prepare yourself for the hunt. At the end of the day, we all have different requirements and opinions about what is important and what’s not on a hunting trip. So, we have created a list of things that many hunters usually carry. It is understood that you would have to carry the load all day, but it’s best to be prepared for every moment. The only way to know what items you think are needed on the field is to actually take a field trip.

Here’s a shortlist of items that we think a hunter should carry.

Essential items you need for a day hunt

Water
This is a no-brainer, but it is something that you cannot go on a trip without. So, while packing your back, make sure that water bottles are on your packing list. Water is essential when going on hunting. In fact, the major weight of your back will be occupied by water, and for obvious reasons. Remember to pack enough for emergencies.

Headlamp
Sometimes, you might be still on the way back to your truck and night may creep up on you. So, it is always a good thing to carry a flashlight, just to avoid any fuss. Another important tip here is - choose the one with SOS settings so, in cases of emergency, you could lead the way.

Always carry a compass

There can be nothing worse than getting lost in the woods and realizing that you cannot find the way out. Thus, it is good to carry a compass from home. Hwwhile you may have a GPS system, it is also wise to have a pocket compass handy for times when the batteries run out.

Have a good hunting knife

While you go on a hunting trip, it is good to have a hunting knife. So, invest in a good knife. Make sure that the edges are strong, sharp, and specially made suitably for outdoor conditions.

First aid kit
Whether you get a cut on your knees or get a blister because of the boots, you need to heal that immediately because when you’re in the woods, the chances of getting an infection is high. So, carry a first aid kit too in your hunting pack. Carry simple small, medium, and large band-aids, hand-sanitizers, antibacterial cream, anti-itch cream, and paracord.

Food/Snacks
When you’re on hunting all day, you might get hungry. Well, many hunters like to carry some snacks like mixed nuts in their bag or some kind of repackaged freeze-dried food. If you wish to take off weight from your backpack, limit carrying heavy food and snacks. Pack only high-calorie protein bars, mixed nuts, etc.

Hunting license

Another essential that you carry in your backpack or wallet is your hunting license. To protect it from any kind of damage, wrap it in a plastic bag. Having your hunting license handy is important so that in case you cross a game warden, things are sorted.
